first-dateFirst date fashion is a complete mystery to some women. Its either you go over the top and scare the guy off, or you look like a total slob, and scare the guy off. When prepping for a first date with a new guy, remember a few important things. What are his likes and dislikes?

No need to intentionally offend his pet peeves, so go with something neutral yet cute. It’s also important to be yourself and wear what reflects who you are. It is important to avoid dressing like his ex girlfriend or mom – if you know these girls, chances are this is what he is not looking for in a new date. Developing your own style will be the best bet for the first date.

Should you wear that $2,000 designer dress? Not unless you are going to fashion show. Stick with something chic, simple, and pulled together. Overdressing on the first date is not often a good idea as it can lead the date to become uncomfortable if you are overdressed and he is underdressed. An expensive dress may become uncomfortable through the date and should be avoided. You should be comfortable as well as being stylish.

Avoid caking on the makeup, and make sure to wear something you can at least walk in. Expecting your guy to carry you on your first date because your heels killed your feet is a definite, no. Rather than going for sky high heels, opt for a cute pair of versatile flats or small heels that are perfect for day, evening and anything that the date brings about.
